Thought I would share the first of my parts for my Disc Grinder Project to arrive. Rod Nielson’s quick-change magnetic hub, modified flat disc (has a beveled edge all around the outer edge diameter of the disc for getting in tight places) and a 1 degree bevel disc. I think I am scrapping the idea of two motors/ one vfd and will be placing an order for a KBAC-24D and a 1HP WEG Motor instead for these beauties. More info on Rod’s hub here: http://www.nielsendesigndiscgrinder.com/ A real nice guy and a pleasure to do business with.
That is the perfect solution for my disc grinder project, removable tool that mounts on the 2x72 grinder and driven by a old belt. Kept putting it off because sandpaper changes seemed to have the potential of getting annoying
This is what I did for mine. 1.5 hp four pole and a KBAC-27D. I put some 1/8" neoprene on the disc and use feathering disc adhesive to hold the sandpaper on. It's tacky only and discs can be changed in a snap. Dan
Your are going to love using those disk grinders. It is the only tool that gets a blade surface FLAT. That is the machine that does the final grind on all of my blades. The 2x72 is just used to grid the rough stuff off.
Awesome @dancom! @FORGE, yes I hear they are amazing and I am itching to use it. Much like the 36” radius platen I just got, so many new toys haha! I am really looking forward to using it, though I think financially I am about another 1 month away from completion...the “Honey I just ordered another motor and vfd for the shop,” conversation has to be decently spaced from the last one lol!
