    Hi everyone,

Im new to the forum and new to knife making. Spent the last few months slowly putting together some tools and work space to get started. Next project is to build a heat treat oven.

Does anyone know where i can find insulating fire bricks in the Vancouver area or a few hours out?

I have tried Clayburn Refractories, but they will not sell in small quantities.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi tony, I am in white rock. I just found a place in Surrey that carries them. Tough bricks to find out here.

You could try Greenbarn pottery, just off hwy in Surrey or Langley. They sell kilns which can often be used for heat treatment, if you get the smaller ones, And think they sell insulating wool. Often jewelry supply stores often sell the soft firebricks, like Rock and Gem, in North vancouver.
