So the only steel I have kicking around the garage is 1/8 O1. Since I am kinda shying away from cutlery made from this stuff, any ideas on what kinda knives I can make out of this 'slimmer' stock? I noticed the Mora bushcraft knives seem to be roughly 1/8, and I have been thinking of doing my first hidden tang, what do you guys think? Thanks in advance! Cheers Griff.
I would make a nice little hunter and give is a mustard patina. It will be less susceptible to corrosion with a little intentional protection. If people know what it is they can look after it. If they are expecting stainless, then ya they will leave it wet in the sink etc. Dan
Dans got a good one there. Nice hunter/ skinning knife with a patina. This was my second knife I made and I'm in progress of reshaping the handle so it's really fought and I'm finished but the blade has a three layered camo patina and with a lite layer of oil it has been in my shop for 6 months not a spec of rust
