i’ve got a 2 hp 3 phase motor and found a 230v 3 phase outlet in a shop I have access too. Question is how do you vary the speed of 3 phase power. Was on route of vfd for 230v 1 phase when I happened on to this plug.
Is it worth playing with or should I just continue on my original route?
    Thoughts? Opinions? Anything else?

Most VFDs will accept 3 phase input. If you want to vary the speed of the motor then get a VFD.

If you want the motor run at a fixed speed. Simply power the motor from from the 3 phase receptacle. Sounds like a good motor. Is it a TEFC?
