I have always loved knives, especially well designed functional knives. Hunting and fishing are more than pastimes for me, so quality cutlery is a must. Lately I have not been pleased with some knives purchased from some major manufacturers......made in China! From now on my knives will be made in Canada....right in my garage. Woodworking is an interest of mine, hoping that working with steel is a smooth transition. There is so much to learn, I hope to be making functional knives in a yer or so. Thanks to Steve B for the help getting started......just waiting on some material to get going.
Thanks Tim, I will do that. I have some black ash, black cherry and some burlled oak if you would like for handle material. I will bring some into TBay when I'm there next. It would be great to learn how to heat treat steel from someone with experience, improve the learning curve.
Welcome to the forums Chinny. We've got a great bunch of guys here who can help you get set up and making knives in no time. I'm looking forward to seeing your first one.
