I'm not new to the site but just noticed this area and thought I should introduce myself. For the past 3 years or so I have been putting together "Jantz" type of pre-made blades and kits. That being said I have started to make my own blades. Also some equipment to do my own heat treatment and stabilizing and dyeing of scales. It's almost as much fun to make the tools as it is to make the blade. I have been an avid attendee to the Canadian Knife-maker Guild shows in Toronto for the past few years to suck up any info and hints from the pros, (p.s. thanks all that didn't tell me to get walking). I wanted to add a couple pictures but cant get them to work.
maybe this facebook link will work https://www.facebook.com/hyde.mee.9...1073741827.100009332005616&type=1&pnref=story the pictures are there!
Well a belated welcome to you, then, Hyde_me. It's a whole new set of challenges when you start making knives from scratch but the satisfaction is even greater. I couldn't see your pics (I don't do Facebook). See this post for info on adding pics.
lol maybe this will work the blank is the first 01 steel stock removal blade that wasn't totally mauled when i ground it. http://s288.photobucket.com/user/Hyde_me/library/
Hyde, Making your own tools is very rewarding. I guess knives are tools too. Hope to see what you are up to. Dan
