I have some access to a Rockwell tester at work. but I've actually never had the chance to use one yet.. can anyone help me out on what is reading here, it was set to test for Rockwell not brinell or victers
Hardness scale should be set to HRC. Looks like it is on HRE. That is my wild guess. Nice machine by the way.
Is there a conversion function on the tester? It may be able to crunch some math and give you RHC. C scale uses a conical brale whereas the E scale uses a ball. They may not overlap or even be converted between scale.
Thanks. Ya it's not to bad at all, I will play with it next time I'm in and see if it will convert to RHC
HREW is hot rolled electric welded Conv is conversion =N/A HV is hardness Vickers last measurement was 117 You can get conversion charts if you want, lots available online.
I'll have to take to the engineer at work. I think he has the most experience on this one out of everyone there. See what he says about setting and charts available
Now I had not considered that possibility, took it as the material type being tested initially but you may be right.
http://unitedtesting.com/home/products/hardness-testers/ looks like HREW is as Dan mentioned based off the flyer and showing HRC in same location on the display
Ya Dan haha it's brutal though as it sits beside a 800 ton press in a line of three total. It doesnt have the best of a life haha we have a better one in our quality lab but it's the only part of the building even in maintaince we have to be cleared to come in haha
