Been a long time since I've been in the knife shop so I'm kinda rusty, but, hey, it was fun. Boxing day project of three paring knives ( two saw steel & ironwood, one saw steel & burr oak)

I used a one sixteenth ice saw with a good temper, then wet ground it to keep the original temper. A saw file will still cut the steel but for paring knives it's just fine. No heat treating & 30 min epoxy makes the project go pretty quick.
