Looking good........ and here all I thought you did was drink beer !!! from your Instagram site.
Right on Griff. That is one crazy handle. How did the heat-treat work out?
Thank you guys!
@FORGE Yeah...I’m one of those weird guys that’s drinks beer for the taste haha!
@dancom it went great Dan, so the edge is perfect, passed the edge roll test on the brass tube....I cut some rope, cardboard, cut into some 2 x 4’s ...push cuts to feather and all good.
The Hitachi Blue takes a good easy edge, and it’s only represented by about the first half inch of the billet, the hardened steel isn’t all the way through the centre on this piece, so the spring temper colour was only the mild steel jacket, which now I think will make a very durable knife.
This is now my personal knife (I give my knives to friends and family). I didn’t like the shaping I did on the back end...thinned it too much. I also set one logo straight and one at a slight angle to see what I preferred, and I like the slight angle better (shown). The way I have it here is not my intended use for Logo-pin anyway...I want to use them on the butt-end of hidden tang knives. I’ve never made one, but I am going to attempt a Bowie this summer.
Thanks for looking and the positive comments, very much appreciated
