Here is a spike hawk I just finished. I'm not 100% sure the steel (Reclaimed Truck axle) however after a bit of testing I have a serviceable heat treatment worked out. 8" from edge to spike and 18" hickory handle (reclaimed pickax handle). I did a heavy etch to give it a old look. Comments positive and negative are welcome. I have to build stuff out of junk once in a while
Very nice hawk and I like the color of the etch. Any chance we could get a top down shot to see the profile and the eye shape?
Thanks guys, they are fun but a lot of work. Here is the top view, I drifted the eye square so a wooden hammer handle would fit (Easy to find).
i like-nice to see "junk"transformed..if you are like me as soon as i have a handle on an axe i have an overwhelming urge to chop something
