I had a chance to complete the knife, now I just have to sharpen it...Let me know what you think?
well done my friend looks great !!
Thanks Rob I got lazy and didn't trim down the micarta before gluing and of course as always it made MORE work in the end... Lesson learned...Again...lol!
Nice I like it. Loks like I have some catching up to do.
Thanks Icho, I can't wait to see how all the other knives will turn out... This build was a lot of fun!
I wish I hadn't looked at the finished product. I'm feeling the pressure now.:scared:
Oh, and wow! That is a stunner.
hahahahaha , i profiled my new blade yesterday !!!
As did I, although on the bright side the CPM154 blade I initially profiled turned into a super nice little drop point EDC with FFG after a screwed up my scandi bevels. I actually just recieved my Bubble Jig from Fred Rowe and will give it a shot, hopefully that helps me keep things more even.
Back to the original topic, what is that handle material? Is it a natural material or some type of Inlace, Acrylester, Kirinite, type composite. Very nice whatever it happens to be. And that mirror polish is stunning.
Handle material is True stone Mexican Agate they 95% stone the grind it to a powder mix 5% acrylic resin and mold the blocks and cut the slabs. First time using I thought it was an interesting process to say the least as it resembles the natural stone!
It looks fantastic. Job well done.
Where did you get the handle material?
I came across the material on eBay searching Tru Stone. I have been looking for more for full scales and there are some left but the designs they have left I figured would look pretty sharp as decorative accents on a hidden tang blade!!!
Holy crap I am way behind now! Looks good man
When I got home frome work this weekend I had a very nice suprise waiting for me...this knife. And let me say, this knife is a real beauty. The fit and finish is outstanding and it feels great in the hand. Job well done Steve and thank you very much.
Right on Greg, I hope you enjoy it my brother wanted to steal it but I wouldn't let him...lol!!! The beauty was I didnt have to send it very far and looking forward to the next KITH
congrats on a great looking knife Greg.
Got thuds little daredevil in the mail today and I must say the suspense was worth every minute Thanks Jim and excellent work this knife has a beautiful finish, perfect contrast with the spalted maple handles and a very well done tapered tang. This knife will have a good home and get lots of good use (Oh and Very sharp as well). Sheath has an excellent fit to the knife as it snaps into it's final resting place very well done Jim and keep up the GREAT work!!!
