I finished my first slipjoint. The blade is 2 3/4" D2, the liners and bolsters are one piece of blued mild steel.
Honestly it's a simple mechanism that is unbelievable complicated. Getting the spring to 0 when the blade is in all three positions was tough. Drilling the back pin with just enough preload wasn't easy. If you change something it effects a bunch of stuff.
Nice work, I would like to attemp one, are there any plans availabe, becuase i dont have a clue on were to start. Thanks, again great looking blade.
Hi Terry, Neil Watt graciously donated some of his slip-joint plans for free use. They are on my blog. Neil has made them all before so I trust everything should line up. In printable PDF format. http://dcknives.blogspot.com/p/folder-templates-for-slip-joint-knives.html Dan
I made this one without a proper pattern, it caused me lots of grief. I lost this knife in my berry field, ticked me right off
