I figure that your bench, or the state of it, is a window into your mind and your knife making approach. So I thought it would be cool to see how you guys all have your knife making benches/area setup. Now my mind is a touch cluttered.
This is some of my set up and bench . This is all I gots for pictures I'm stuck on the tug for a few more days.
this is my shop. it was a mess in this pic but has since been set up for my knife making a bit better
haha Ya messes drive my crazy, I get frustrated tripping over things lol love the wood though in seems more like a custom knife making area the steel walls
That shop will be great some day. We bought the place 4 years ago and just dropped all of our unused crap in there while we updated the house. Last fall we dumped out everything we didn't need. But you will notice that there are no cupboards or shelves at all to put stuff in. So that's next. Soon as it gets warm the plan is to empty everything out, put up some shelves etc and get organized. Bunch of stuff to go on Kijiji. Need a beer cooler or stainless steel sink, fruit press for making wine/cider or a couple lawn mowers anyone?
Dude!? That's a mess? Now I have to go take some pics of my shop. I will post tomorrow. (Maybe I should cleanup first : )
that looks nice and organized! redid mine this week now im set up they way I wanted before but had no time till this week
I switched the boxes around and put all knife making tools down one side and made the shelves for all my paints glue ext. feels good to do a bit of spring cleaning in there with the beauty weather, shop door open to air out the dust haha and I later mounted that tv up on the wall
Looks great. I need to cleanup soon. Selling our house. I am excited about the prospect of a new shop
nice! I was away on a work trip when my wife looked into our house. she said heated shop and I said sold lol
Very nice, and organized. I'm still moving stuff from my old garage in the city, if I ever get things presentable I'll post something. I made a decision yesterday to make my 2 car garage a 1 car garage so I could have more room for my mess.
OK so I don't think I'll ever get any pictures posted because I'll never get things cleaned up. No knife making activities but lots of grinder / forge stuff. Making myself a dual grinder setup and finished one for a friend, along with a dual burner forge, and another grinder for a fellow scout leader. I traded the forge and dual setup for a DN iceboat (sailboat on skates), suddenly I want winter to return ;-) Yes that's a birdcage, I have a couple of conures and they keep me company in the garage when I'm not doing anything that could produce anything toxic. Here I am with my buddy sitting on my camping vehicle waiting for wind for the DN. Cheers all, Rob.
I had some time on the long weekend to start a new mechanical assembly area in an unused corner of the shop. It's half cleated to the wall and the legs are 4" x 6" scrapped from a large transformer shipment that arrived at work. Everything was re-used/repurposed from my shop and I didn't buy anything to put it together. Some old "aluminum" enamel on the plywood and a hidden 4' LED lamp makes for a metallic look. I am shadow-boarding all the tools in hopes that they magically return to their home positions by themselves. Hahaha! Cheers! Dan
