    Just got this finished 1080 / 15N20 ,stainless fittings and a Masur Birch handle.

    Dan the pattern is a stretched Crushed W's. Take a 1 x 1 bar of crushed w's about 1 1/2 inches long stand it up vertically and forge it out horizontally.
    If you want something that will test the welds this is it,you move the steel 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal
