This past weekend the SASK KNIFEMAKERS GUILD held a hands on hammer in and get together here in Regina. There were about 17 participants and a number of projects were undertaken from Mokume, to forging out pieces of roller bearing, making Hawks and rolling out a can of powdered steel into a forged Mosaic Damascus pattern. Here are a few pictures of the activities. More pictures to follow when I get them form some of the participants.
Yeah, doesn't this fella look like he's having fun? Here's what I took home: And here's another action photo of Cal's roller: More to follow. . . eventually
Here is the best I can do for a series on the making of the Frederick's cross. First you start by cutting up your metal, something like this: Then you spread it out along the top cut: Then the other cut: The rest is just finesse. . . Disclaimer: none of the crosses shown in this series were worked on by me
That looks like it would have been a really good time! What do you have to do to join in on the action?
Watch this space...or, rather, the forum at the bottom of the page. There should be firm details once the. Boys decide on the date of the hammer-in. I'm hoping for the weekend of the 25/26 of May so I can attend too.
