Sounds great, just sent in a email! hope you guys will have me hehe I know it's still a long way away, but is there campsites close by? or even motels pending weather?
I am in forsure, sounds like a great time. Also Cal, i am working on that grinder write up but have been extremely busy lately, and i did not manage to get any pictures of that knife with Hamon other than the poor ones i posted, since it has gone to Calgary.
Oh man, I want to be there so bad. . . but I don't think I can spare the time. I'll have to look into it. Sure was a great time last year!
I just wanted to say that I had an incredible time at the hammer in. I had never been to one before, and it was my first time ever forging anything. I ended up forging a hawk head, and a knife shaped object haha. I learned a lot from everyone and met some great guys. While I was there I saw some of the swords forged by mike the Viking, and have to say, they were incredible. He also gave me a billet of Damascus he made that I very much appreciate, thanks again mike. There were a lot of very nice knives there on the display table made by the various attending makers. It was also very interesting to see Cals press and roller in action. I ended up having so much fun forging that I actually bought the forge I worked with this weekend. A big thanks to everyone who gave their time and experience to make this a success, and to everyone who brought their own equipment and materials for us beginners to work with, as well as a thank you for all the advice we received. I have not had that much fun in quite a while.
Forging is addictive in its own right. I don't get to mine nearly as often as I would like. I can spend hours just puttering around and not realize how much time has passed. Hopefully I see a Ontario hammer in at some point because I would love to go to one as well.
I will try to get some uploaded when I have a minute today. Right now I am on the hunt for a propane regulator and a few fittings to get this baby fired up lol. And then make a third hand stand, and smooth up my hammers, and attempt to mount the three foot rail section I have to a base (until I can find an anvil). I think I still have a pile of work ahead of me lol.
