This one will end up in the US, its for a friend who was a sapper in Afghanistan. We got talking about knives so I sent him a picture of one from my garage, he said hey, I have a lot of sapper buddies who love knives so I said I'd make him one and send it down, got a logo he provided and had it made into a stencil. I had no idea what a sapper was. Scales are stabilized maple, 1st time working with it and I really like it, what do you guys use as a finish coating or do you just leave it polished? I've yet to try contouring scales more but am too worried about screwing the knife up especially when I'm down to the final stages. I think I have a thing for drop points with swedges. I've got most of the gear collected for making my own mosaic pins, just waiting for some epoxy pigment to arrive and I need a large syringe. Turns out Genie Pharmacy in Edmonton has them in all sizes, have to find a moment during the week to see what they have. cheers, Rob
Nice knife. I like the custom etching for the snapper. Love the stabilized maple burl and birdseye myself as well. And the red spacer is a nice touch
A couple more following the same line. I'm happy with the overall design however I'm not so happy with how 1084 stains, it's easy to bring back to life with a buffer wheel but as far as I know among my friends I'm the only one who has one. 1st is 1084, lower is CPM154. In most of my pictures one can see a reflection of the joints in the ceiling tiles along with a ceiling fan blade. Well at least I have 1 consistent fan.
