Here is my latest Sami style knife. I made it for my friend Alessio Salsi, who is a great blade smith and needless to say he forged the blade for this knife himself. )) Blade is made of 115W8 steel. It is high carbon steel with addition of chromium and tungsten. I have never worked with this steel before. Alessio claims it is stainless, but other people say it's not... Anyways, blade is 95 mm, handle 115 mm. Reindeer antler and birch root burl for the handle. Reindeer antler and vegetable tanned leather for the sheath. A bit of Sami style carving for the decoration... )) As always, comments and criticism are welcome and much appreciated.
Awesome! I still wish I could have seen one in person at the knife show last August.... I guess pictures will have to do till we meet again.
