I had cut and profiled this knife and wasnt really big on it to begin with.. then my girlfriend said it looked like Aladdin's knife,. so,. I decided to reshape it into this. I'm liking this design much much better. I dont always draw things out on paper first, but I probably should start! Flat ground, with a 5" hollow ground clip that I might sharpen, suggestions on that? Hoping to get this heat treated this weekend, I'll post pics as I go with this one, cuz who doesnt love WIP threads??

Thanks guys! I'm not sure yet, Rob, for handle material. I'll have to dig through the pile and see what I can find. I've been liking the look of lighter woods lately, I might try some local maple I have kickin around, if I can find an interesting looking piece.

I picked awa y at this a bit more over the last couple days.. Times been tight.

Here it is cooling after a temper cycle with another big knife I'm working on

Getting the grind dialed in. I've been using ceramic belts a bit, but I really have no idea what grit matches regular sanding grits. This is taken to that grit that doesnt hurt when you rub it on your face.

And getting the swedge finished up. I have to say, 5" hollow grind swedge is the most challenging thing I've done so far in knifemaking.. aside from.. actually learning to make a knife.

    Looking good man!
It's too bad you couldn't keep that post heat-treat camo look.

I use those NORaX belts from CKSL, looks like what you have.
Here's a handy chart I have by my grinder.

I brought it up to 2000 on the hand sanding, I dont have a good buffer yet but I'd like to buff this one right to mirror polish I think.

That's a beauty. I find a little Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish really brings the mirror on.

Hey guys! well, it's been a while since I visited the forums, I did finish the knife.. sold it, and forgot to get proper pictures of it! But these are a couple that it's new owner sent to me.
