from what I hear every knife maker makes one sooner or later !! LOL here's my first...............what the hell it was fun , throw it in the r.v. for camp fire kindler !! before............... .....and after , needs a sheath which will be fun , post it later and a final edge
Thanks Tim , it was fun to make ! 11'' blade , 5.5'' handle , black locust up front, some copper spacers, couple ziricote spacers, honduran rose and some alaskan burl with a stippled stainless cap..... have a crossover sheath idea in my head, just need to get it to paper, maybe later tonight , just waiting for the Hawks to hoist the cup first !!
Glad to see you did get one made from a rasp Rob. I really like how the guard and pommel are also made from files, it ties the package together well.
Awesome work Rob, really live the look of that knife especially the black locust and copper spacers looks like a nice piece of art
thanks guys , here's the pics I actually wanted to post but wifey had camera , just a little better quality..........I like this knife the more I hold it, might just have to make another !! rasps are free and lots of leftover handle material makes for a cheap camp chopper build.............that said I see lots on line asking crazy price's !!
Thanks JS its a thru-tang epox'd the s##t out of it epoxied threads and attached nut, ground, filed , rounded off, sanded, finished, polished and stippled to liking, 1001 ways to skin a cat !!
had someone tell me it looks more of a fighter than a chopper (which is fine with me ) so I wanted to keep that in mind when putting a sheath together........... I was hoping the copper rivets would compliment the copper spacers...........the lighting wasn't great ( shadows) but I'm really happy with the end results......... .......a quick sketch .......some pieces..... and the finished sheath
Love the look of the sheath Rob!! The black decor gives it a cool kinda renaissance look to it as we'll
