Here's a little knife almost finished up. Linen micarta. O1 steel. Now to sharpen it up and throw together a quick sheath. Let me know what you think.
    OAL length 9 3/4"

    Hey, Looks great!
I am not sure if I am seeing a tip hamon or the light is playing tricks on the steel colours.

Beautiful shape and nice thumb rise.

    Keep on postin'!

The light is playing tricks. No hamons yet, but I should be getting some steel that I can practice with soon. Thanks for the post

So here's a little update for this one. I wanted to darken this down a touch so I finally picked up some ferric chloride. 3:1 mix, distilled water and ferric. A few 3 minute cycles. Buffed with 0000 steel wool. And here's the result. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

That turned out sweet. I like the etch.
Did you etch the tang too? That's the nice thing about removable scales.

Yes I did. Etched all the way back. It was interesting seeing how the different area's etched. The hardest blade portion darkest then getting lighter as it went back.
