Hi guys, I am going to attempt to build a press and have started to scrounge up materials for it. I picked up an I beam from a farmer that is 6.5" x 8" x 11'4" @ 3/8 thickness. It also came with 1/2" plate ( .5" x 12" x 10'4" ) welded to the bottom of it which will come in handy I think. I want to build an H frame style with this and I do believe it is overkill, but, the price was right and I like overkill.
I ran into a article yesterday that said something about using a single stage pump as oppose to a 2 stage pump so that you can run it on a continuous automatic cycle type thing instead of manually raising and lowering. I have never seen a forge press set up like that and I was wondering if any of you fine people would have some thoughts on this.
This is going to be a long project for me so any advice will be appreciated.

Tom, can you link the article you're referring to?
