At the present time I can only build knives in the warmer weather, but I plan to change that. So I'm getting other equipment ready to make my life a little easier. Here's some photos of a buffer/polisher I'm in the process of building. I still have to make the shaft and give it some paint . It's compact enough to be mounted on a pedestal but I'm likely going to table mount it to start. That's a 3/4hp motor turning a 1'' shaft and I've got 8'' and 10'' pads for it. Cost me under 100 beans so far as I got the motor and steel for nothing. I'll add more photos when it's done. I'm getting pretty itchy to get out there and build something sharp.
Yes. I just cut off a chunk of 2'' piano hinge I had lying around. Belt tension works on an arc. Seemed the easiest most effective way.
Thanks guys, but I'm a sissy when it comes to cold. Maybe I'll have to settle and try it out on the wife's rings for now.
