Finally after 70 days my wheels arrived! I honestly thought the ship must have sank. It's a good thing I was using AliExpress and not AliRegular! LOL I am making a two wheel tool arm with a 3" and a 5" contact wheel to plug in to the Sayber OSG. I love the smooth rubber wheels, especially for handle work. Will post what I come up with! Happy long weekend! Dan
Something like that, not triangular though. A 3" and 5" with a slack area in the middle. Can move around the centre handle.
This is what I ended up going with... I didn't have any 3/8" handy, so I used some 1/2" that was kicking around the steel bin. 1.5" square aluminum stock, 18" long. Drilled and tapped on centre at 1.75" from end. The handle is a 3/8" NC with a 1.25" stud. It just clears the 5" contact wheel. The wheels are stood off the plate with a single 1/2" jamb nut and two flat washers. This puts the left side of the wheels 3/4" from the arm. The work rest fits up to the wheels too! Dan
I like it! Need to get some more assorted sized wheels in the shop. I’ve seen guys do some seriously deep hollows with 8” and 6” wheels, and nice swedges too.
Yes, the smaller diameter rubber wheels do a good job. I have a 4" on my horizontal grinder and love it for shaping handles. With a work rest, clean hollow grinds are more viable as I am not good at freehand hollows at all. I nearly wiped out a chef's knife trying to make an S grind on the 2" aluminum idler in the top of the flat platen. The rubber wheel is way more forgiving. Might make some kind of jig to get me started. Will keep ya posted. Dan
