Afternoon folks.. I am new to the forum (although have been reading your posts for a while. I have just started out with knife making (at about 10 blades) and am really interested in knives as tools for hunting. I have made a couple out of stainless (154 CM and 440 C) and a few out of O1 (that way I can heat treat without an oven.. Please bear with me as I am sure I will be asking a number of really stupid/basic questions.
I tried adding a few pics to show you guys what I have started off with and would appreciate any insights on design finishes etc.
Welcome Timmer. The best part about this site (to me) is that all the more experienced makers are very patient with beginners. You're going to get a lot of help and a lot of good info here. You will have to learn to use a 3party hosting site (I think Google Drive is the latest and greatest suggestion) for pics. You can't paste pics directly to the site, only link to hosting sites like dropbox, google drive, imugr . We used to be able to use photobucket. Somewhere there's a howto, I believe, but I couldn't seem to find it. I'll keep looking and get back to you.
Found it, I think (only I don't think photobucket works anymore) http://www.canadianknifemaker.ca/index.php?threads/how-to-post-pictures-in-the-forums.3/#post-3
Are telling me that these are some of the first knives you've made? They're pretty incredible. Really nice even by more "veteran " standards. (I kind of really hate this about you : )
