Hello everyone, I've recently started knife making and have fell in love with it. I live in Saskatoon, Sk and was just wondering how many makers are here in Saskatoon?

Welcome to the forums, metal99. There are a few folks here from in and around S'toon.

What sort of knives do you make?

I don't have a belt sander right now and am trying to find something decent for a starter with no luck. I would like a 2x42 at least but a nice 2x72 would be great! I just cant afford a big belt grinder right now. Do you guys know where I could get a 2x42 locally?

Take it as high praise. Big (and the rest of us) would be in serious trouble with the spouses if we tried that.

Nice work on the knives, by the way. You're proof that you don't need a lot of tools to get started as a maker. It would be great to see a complete build-along with your setup. It would go well in our beginner's section.

Does "dead" count as serious trouble?

Well thank you :) Yeah ''dead'' falls in the serious trouble catagory lol. My wife "doesn't mind it at all" . . . I only have access to power and air tools at work and the selection is as folows.

    3" cut off wheel
angle die grinder with 2" disks
and a bench grinder that I do not use lol

I have done most of the finishing work with files in that tiny vice on my kitchen table:) I have been taking lots of pictures as I go maybe I could start a WIP.
