So the other day when I was going through boxes I found my old knife that I'd been given when I was in boy scouts 20+ years ago. I actually thought that it'd been lost so was very happy to find it. Needless to say it was in poor condition, so I put all my other projects on hold to give it a new life, which in the end only took around 6 hours. It's an old H 22 Solingen from Germany, here are the before and after.

The handles way different it's not a take down any more but a hinden tang and I tried out the gun blue patina that I picked up recently.

Still needs to be sharpened but it feels really nice to hold.

Here's the next little project that I completed, while taking a break from sanding my other knives.

My starter anvil. Now all I need is my forge, which I'm working on slowly.

I've also been working on my first 4 knives, got 2 ready for heat treat and I'm just finishing up the sanding on the other 2 should be ready sometime next week. I'll post them when they come out of the heat treat.

Well done on the refurb, Joel. It reminds me that I have one or two of those old knives myself, somewhere. Might be worth a search.

I like the anvil. I've considered one of those -- more mobile and take up a lot less space than a full size anvil. How long is that chunk of rail?

I found a chunk of rail like that while dump diving at the farm. Dragged it home because, well, how can you leave something like that in the dump? There are already 2 anvils in the shop but that's not reason enough to leave a nice chunk of rail in the heap!

The piece of rail is just over 8" so I think it'll be good for small stuff which is what I'm going to start with.
