    Hi all,

I've been a huge fan of blades of all kind since I was a child, and only until recently have I had the opportunity to delve more fully into the art itself. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the forum and the many professionals here. I hope to one day have my own forge running somewhere where I can create my own blades as beautiful as the ones I see in the magazines and online!

    Welcome!

I think you will find a great mix of experience and enthusiasm here. Although the forum seems a little quiet now, that's probably because everyone is 'nose to the grindstone' making knives for Christmas. :)

Welcome @Xyredus. You'll find lots of friendly and helpful folks here to assist you as you learn. Are you interested in a particular type of knives or build method ( you mentioned getting a forge)?

As @dancom mentioned, it's a bit quiet here right now, but as the summer projects finish and the temperature outside starts to drop, the knife shops will start to heat up.

Mythtaken I've had a steadily increasing obsession with damascus steel over the years and I have always been interested in hunting, combat knives and swords. I would ultimately love to get into combat weaponry both past and present. I'm not particular to one nations weaponry I am just a big fan of it all. I'm a big fan of history and would love to create weaponry of the past, especially from damascus.

Of course I don't really know very much about metal and how to work with it yet, but big dreams and I'm hoping to be able to learn as much as I can from either youtube, someone locally, thankfully the SK Knife Makers Guild is very helpful. Just trying to find a steel manufacturer in town or close by to stock up. I was wondering I know many farmers and they have lots of old machinery sitting around, I was wondering all that steel is it of use for knives or weaponry? Or is it more blacksmith material? I'm looking at doing a lot of blacksmithing as well once I'm setup.

I'm still looking around town to a farm nearby that I could setup at, but with harvest on the go hard to catch them at home, but I have plenty of time maybe look into next year as hunting season is on and I'm not around much anyways. :) But I have found a forge on kijiji but sadly no one has gotten back to me, so still looking into a forge and anvil, as well as tools. It's a long awesome road of adventures to discover and I'm really looking forward to it!
