I made this one a little while back and I don't think I posted any pics of it. It's made of 440C, OAL is 9", blade is 4.25". Handle is stabilized flame maple with cinnamon red spacer, nickel silver bolsters and mosaic pins. I tried going for a satin finish on the bolsters but they tarnished like you wouldn't believe. I ended up polishing them to a shine a few months later. I dovetailed the bolsters as well. In the sheath. Thanks for looking.
The bolster oxidization should have stabilized to a matt finish but I am with you I would have ended up polishing as well. I like the dovetail bolster it is a real nice touch, knife is looking good
Very nice...both sheath and knife. I find nickle silver tarnishes too easy no matter what finish you go with. I stopped using it for that reason.
I got them from Jantz in the states. They have all kinds of different patterns and sizes. They're pretty good to deal with but the shipping/exchange/duty adds up in an awful hurry. I'm trying to get all my stuff from Canada now. Plus I'd rather support the home team anyway.
Nice knife man! Do my eyes deceive me or is there a little bit of ambrosia streaking in that maple? Looks great!
Thanks Bobby. I'll have to be honest with you buddy, I don't know what ambrosia is. I got the scales off eBay. The wood had light and dark areas almost as if it was cut from where the heart wood stops and the sap wood starts if that makes any sense. It has nice contrast so I kinda like it.
Your choice of handle material and bolster go very well together and with the red liners and mosaic pins, Its a beauty!!
