Greetings. First, my name isn't Heather. I didn't even use my name when I signed up. Funny. About 20 years ago I made a few carbon steel knives. I love my band saw blade filleting knives. Now, after leaving the hobby for 20 years, I have started it up again. I found a stainless blade I started making with a friend who supplied the steel and tempering. I didn't finish before we moved. Now the knife is ready for heat treating but I don't remember what kind of steel it is. I think it might be 440. I live in rural Saskatchewan and would like to send it to someone who can help me with this. Any ideas?
Welcome to CKM "Heather" (If you'd like to change that, send me a PM). Rob at knifemaker.ca offers heat treating. If you call and explain the situation, he can probably take a shot at it.
Welcome to the forum, and don't worry about the name thing, I was known as Susan for the first week here
I second rob at knifemaker.ca sent my first two ss blades to him a month ago and was not disappointed. He tests the hardness and it was right on what I wanted and marks it on the handle too
