I'm a hobby wood crafter gone knife maker. I had no more room for raise panel chests. And thought Hey I could always have room for more knives! Forged my first two blades less then a year ago from grade 8 hardened bolts in the wood stove in the garage. ( since made electric kiln? And electric crucible/foundry) Made a few more knives since and am very pleased with the results. Can't believe how much I enjoy the craft! Already gave away a knife to my brother for $200.
I'm here with hopes of getting contact ideas for supplies/trade show dates. Thought I saw something for this weekend in southern ontario. But can't seem to search anything. Might as been an old thread
Only one I have heard of is from Facebook and is October 28th at Thak Ironworks http://www.thak.ca/contact/ http://tamahagane.com/2016/09/08/hammer-in/ Facebook page for Canadian Knifemakers Guild was where the conversation was going on. https://www.facebook.com/groups/234101840032715/
Home Depot carries a half decent selection of brass rod both threaded and smooth if there is one nearby. If not then you should be able to order from https://www.knifemaker.ca/ or a specialty metals supplier like http://www.speedymetals.com/ Both do online sales
Welcome Mike. I love North Bay. I almost bought a house up there this past year, backing right on to Samuel de Champlain Prov. Park. Beautiful country.
