Hello, I have a source that can provide me with some steel for making knives. Could anyone give a list of steel type that can be used for knives? Thank you in advance.
Lots of people seem to use 1075, 1084,1095 and other 10 series high carbon steel. 15N20 and 52100 are also used. 01 is a good tool steel that some use but it rusts quickly if you don't take care of it. I use A2 and I've seen others use D2 but I think it's a pain to sand but can make good knives. For stainless 440C seems to be a good place to start but stainless takes more skills to harden. I'm no expert so others will soon weigh in with more knowledge.
If you don't mind me asking, where do you even find any of that. States? And if so is there much hassle or fees to ship to canada
