That's awesome. Can't wait to see it! Just wondering about the etching solution. When I tested my etcher I used electrical tape as a stencil and water with a few dashes of table salt for the solution and a q tip as the contact or whatever its called. I was very impressed with the results. It was able to etch pretty deep and it blackened nicely. I didn't want to get too fancy till I could prove my etcher works. My actual stencil will be the true test. How much better is the proper solution?
Received my new makers mark from T.U.S. Technologies , these people in particular Jan were great to deal with.......... I have their contact info if anyone is interested, I will etch a blade this weekend and post a pic when I can (inlaws are over)........so not sure when...... I'm a huge Loveless fan so for those of you that know him may find my logo un-original !! ha LOL !!
Awesome...I've been using Jan from the start she's great, I contact here for all my custom and personalized stencil and no complaints here
Sounds like T.U.S. might be worth checking out. I've been making my own stencils but I'm having trouble getting fine detail to show up in them. I had to simplify the mark for my KITH blade.
You get great detail with theses stencils Myth and a little shot of neutralite and they clean up like new.
I have been making my own like myth, but have not had any issues yet. I don't have any super fine detail in mine though, just the lettering, so that may be why. I was not sure about making my own at first but my brother bought me the materials for Christmas so I had to try it out. Took a few try's to get the timing down for exposure, but now I love the freedom of it. I can cheaply and quickly make anything I need, whether its a customer name, a steel type, or some logo or design. Next plan is to try some stencils that actually are just decorative, such as scrollwork and things. I have seen some guys online electro chem etch some bolsters and blades and things, and it actually looks like engraving if done correctly.
Looks much better with the bottom text flipped. I had to youtube MS Word to figure out how to write curved text. What a learning curve! (groan)
Do you guys buy your stencils pre-made or do you use the laser printer/shiny paper method? I need to start adding my mark.
I got them pre made from http://www.tustech.com/admin/ecst . very quick and easy. The nice thing is if you re order the same stencil again it only costs about $15 for the sheet.
