My First Knife

    Here are some pictures of my first knife. The handle material is oak rubbed with boiled linseed oil and beeswax, The blade is made from a Nicholson pipeliner file quenched in warm canola oil and tempered at 425 for two 1 hour cycles. I know it is fairly rough but it still cuts.

    Half the battle is the little details and the more you make the more little details you pick up on and make better

    Awesome. I love seeing first knives. Ya, you always find stuff you did wrong, but you probably learned more in this one project than the next five knives you make. Hang on to it. Use it and don't be shy to show people where it all started.

    I defiantly learned lots during this project, Thanks for taking a look and also for the advice. I just finished my second knife and will post some pics soon.

    You only ever make your first knife once. So much learning and a great feeling of having created something lasting.
