Hey all today I started my first and second of 2016. Just a couple little guys in Alabama damascus. I found these two off cuts that I've had laying around the shop for well over a year. To tell the truth after I cut the knife blanks from the bars the off cuts got tucked away in my junk drawer and forgotten until this morning while searching for matches to light the heater. Decided to make up a couple paring/edc/necker type knives. Got them profiled and bevels ground up to 220 and started hand sanding on one before calling it an evening. The longer one is 6 7/8" long with a 3 1/8" blade the smaller one is 6 1/8" long with a 2 7/8" blade
Nice. Is there anything special about the patterning that makes it "Alabama" Damascus? I'm clueless about the stuff, other than it looks REALLY neat, and that I've always wanted to do up a custom 1911 "Barbecue" gun with a Damascus slide That's an interesting looking sanding block. I've never seen one like that. Did you make it?
The Damascus is from Alabama damascus on ebay. It is random pattern. Do you mean the sanding stick (it is just a piece of 1/2 micarta) or my hand sanding fixture? I made both. There's a thread I posted here about the fixture. Won't let me link to the thread so just search for blade sanding fixture.
