Here's a little project I made some time ago with a scrap of my own Damascus. I call it my "Deermouse Bowie." The blade is heat treated etched and fully functional. It has a cold blued, steel strapping, pierced guard and a deer"mouse" crown stag handle - actually deer antler, carved and dyed to simulate crown stag. It was a fun little project, making something valuable out of scraps. I hope this stimulates some of you to try your hand at making a miniature or two for an occasional change of pace.
Really nice knife. I love miniatures. Just the other day I was going through a box of scraps and wondering what to do with them. This gives me some ideas. In the meantime here's a little something (pun intended) Dave did a few years back.
I hadn't seen that one before. It looks like about the same size as mine, almost ultra mini. It's nice to see someone else has some interest in miniatures. As a tip, try using the "Lansky" principle for grinding the bevels on your miniatures. It makes it so much easier.
Every year at a show I attend a fellow comes up to my table and shows me the miniatures he has made. This year he had a gun and a sword, The detail was unbelievable.
