Driven from the original John Noon thread,
    http://www.canadianknifemaker.ca/index.php?threads/kith-2017.2664/
some interest was expressed in running a Knife In The Hat again this year.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make a:

Paring or Small Kitchen Utility Knife
    • The focus should be on usability and fit & finish
    • Try to keep it under 10" long. (This is not supposed to be a machete.)
    • Stock removal, forged, with or without bolsters, full tang, stick tang or through tang: anything goes.
    • Sheath, scabbard, holster, pouch, or saya optional.

KITH Ends Friday June 23th, 2017.
    1. Each participant will receive a randomly drawn knife in exchange for a knife they enter.
    2. As a truly random drawing (from the hat so to speak) a non-participating, trustworthy, forum member acting as Facilitator will generate a swap list.
    3. As a participant, you will provide a name and mailing address to the Facilitator, before the deadline, in order to receive the knife being mailed to you. The name and address will not be published.
    4. The Facilitator will notify the participant of the name and address which to send their entry (knife).
    5. The Facilitator will not reveal in advance what knives are going to what participants. (Super fun this way)
    6. All knives must be packaged and shipped, postage paid by sender. Packaging of knives must in a safe way so as to not cause injury/harm to postal workers or recipient.
    7. All participants must submit at least 1 photo and dimensional specs of knife to the forum before closing, Friday June 23, 2017.
    8. Participants will receive recipient's name and address on or before Monday June 26, 2017.
We hope to see knives made to the best of everyone's ability. It is also understood that we are all not at the same level of proficiency, but that okay. Everyone is welcome to join in. As usual, critiques and reviews are appreciated.

Please indicate in this thread that you are in.

Admin has graciously created a topic for us to put our Work In Progress posts. If you wish to add some photos for your WIP, create a new thread within the 2017 KITH topic.

Thank you and wishing you all the best!

    Dan

I would be in to give this a shot. I've been itching to do a petty or kamagata lately.

I realize that there is some time before this but I am gonna have to send my info to the organizer as soon as I am complete as my wife and I are celebrating our 20 year anniversary with a trip to Iceland and will be away on the 23rd and before but I assume there is no penalty for finishing early :)

Absolutely no problem with finishing early. I have started on mine already.

Is it still time to join in onto this built. I just got home of the tug and I had to make sure I had a blade in stock before I could join.
So if its still good I'm in .

Having a knife before the draw date is the cut off I believe
