Hi everyone, on July 14th, there will be a trio of Knifemakers from Japan; Shibata-San, Ikeda-san and Kato-san, coming to Edmonton to do an afternoon of forging and freehand sharpening demos at Knifewear on Whyte ave. As of now, there will be just shy of 200 people coming to watch these Japanese smiths do their thing, so if you are coming, try to come a bit early to get a good spot. Also, the forging equipment is being supplied by Front Step Forge, so if you want to say hi to Shaun, he will be around as well.
Hi Jon, How did it go? I was really hoping to make it to the demonstrationat Knifewear, but we had family related plans from a long time ago. I hope it went well. I would have loved to be there. Got any pics? Dan
It was fantastic, we had a set of vintage Japanese bellows that were supplied along with the anvil and forge by Shaun from Front Step Forge. The gents hammered out some blanks, and there were the better part of 200 people there to take it all in. All in al it was a fantastic afternoon.
