My name is Mike Kelly and I am the owner of Wood & Acrylic Supply in Ehprata PA. I am Canadian born from SW Ontario and still hold my Canadian citizenship with a green card on the USA side. We noticed on an internet search that wood-acrylic-supply.com was mentioned several times in this forum in reference to the Inlace Acrylester we sell as scales. We have been in business in USA since 2004 selling wood and acrylic craft items to craft persons all around the world. Also have tinkered in knife making so I can at least understand my customers Very happy to belong to a Canadian club
Well we're happy to have you. I'm pretty sure there will be a few folks here with questions about your product line.
Welcome. I was born and raised in SW Ontario. Small world. PA you say? Please dont say you are a Steelers fan.
No. I am the one who put the link to Mike's website in a post some time ago. Not so much into watching the sports. I am Stealers Wheel fan.
This thread is going off in a strange direction. I guess you could say "I can see that it makes no sense at all." : )
It does seem to be straying. Thanks to all for trying our items and for referring my links. Hope you had good luck with what you purchased. Mike
Hi Mike, I recently bought some Alumilite and Acrylester pieces from you. I have used Acrylester before, but not Alumilite. Can you tell me a little about the similarities and or differences? Impact resistance etc. as with respect to say using for a knife handle? I am considering using the Alumilite on a hunting knife where I know it's going to get some hard use. Thanks! Dan
To compare them all we tested pen blanks by throwing them on cement floor. Acrylester shattered, Acrylic broke in 2 and alumilite bounced That's how they worked
That's great to hear. I dropped a knife with an Acrylester handle on the concrete and it chipped out a tiny bit. I'd like something with a bit more give to it for this application. Alumilite seems "softer" in the hand if that makes sense. Thanks! Dan
Maybe I can ask this question here. How come some vacuum chambers listed for sale say they are not compatible with Cactus Juice, when most kits look identical? Meaning all are Silicone gasket sealed, same gauge, same fittings and same pump!
Late response but the only reason I can imagine that someone would say not compatible with Cactus Juice would be so they could sell their own brand - it's nonsense. We are the largest authorized retailer in US for Turntex selling and average of 8 gallons and 4 1/2 gallons per day
This is the one I am looking at currently https://www.ebay.ca/itm/3-Gal-Heated-Vacuum-Chamber-W-Temp-Glass-Lid-3-CFM-Vacuum-Pump/124059612573
