This howto explains the procedure for adding images to your postings on Canadian Knifemaker.

You can't attach pictures directly to your postings. Instead, they need to be linked from somewhere else. If you already use a photo sharing site or want to link to pictures on your own blog or website, you're set. If not, you'll need an account at one of the many photo sharing sites. Nearly all offer free storage.

For this example, I'm using Photobucket.

Note: This works really well if you have 2 tabs open in your browser; one with your posting in it, and one with the site where your images are.

    Step 1
Log into your photo sharing account and choose the image you want to show in your posting.

    Step 2
Copy the link information from the image. If you have the option of choosing an IMG Code link you can save a step. Otherwise, choose a direct URL link (starts with "http://").

Note: To share an image from your own site or blog, just copy the part that starts with "http://...".

    Step 3
Switch to your posting on Canadian Knifemaker.
    • If you chose the IMG Code link, just paste it in. It will look something like this...

    • If you're using a direct link (http://) click the Insert Image button in the post editor.

Paste the URL link into the box and click Insert.

If all works well, your posting will have have a picture right where you wanted it.

I'm guessing photo bucket doesn't work? What else is available and would it work the same as the instructions above?

    Thx

You are correct. Photobucket managed to break half the internet when it changed it's policies. You can use any other photo hosting site, like imgur, flickr, etc. If your local ISP included some personal web space with your account (some still do) you can also drop your images in a directory there and link to them, though you should keep an eye on the bandwidth usage, in case they charge you for it.
