Thought I would show how many pieces and how muck work goes into making one of these knives. And the final product
Wow that’s awesome. How did you get the curved tang to slide through there? Did you just drill one big hole through the main wood part?
You drill a hole from each end and then slot it out in the shape of the tang. It is a challenge to get the curve in the hole so the tang slides through. Yes you could drill one BIG hole but when you shape the handle hope you don't hit that epoxy filled cavity and have to start all over again. Roto zip makes a 1/8 carbide cutter that I take and silver braze on to a piece of 1/8 music wire a couple of inches long. This allows toy to get in and gouge out the handle material until the tang will slide on.
Dan the only place I have ever found it is K&G in Arizona. If I remember correctly it is 0.015 thick, which is about 1/2 the thickness of anyone else. https://knifeandgun.com/collections/spacer Then if you put it in the press and apply about 20 tons it gets a bit thinner.
