i am a 66 year old who has done a lot of stuff in my life that isn't much use in the society we live in now .but i can survive a lot better in the times we now live in so if i can learn to make knives i will be a very happy camper .

Welcome to the forum Herb. Just to make your day, I can say you'll absolutely be able to make knives. It's easy.

Learning to make really nice knives, on the other hand.... :D

    Welcome Herb.

Stick with the leaf spring and the 1084 for a bit. 1095 can be tricky to heat treat.
