darn Forged in Fire show peaked my interest, so here I am and on to build my first forge. Any and all suggestions will be welcome, I plan to use an old 20lbs. propane tank for the build.

    Welcome to Canadian Knifemaker, greenhorn.

Building your first forge isn't as difficult as you might expect. Using it to make decent knives, on the other hand, is a bit more of a challenge. But no worries. There are lots of experienced folks here who can help you out along the way.

    Hi greenhorn!

Welcome. If you are using 20lb tanks I assume you are using LPG. LOL
I would recommend you get your hands on a copy of Gas Burners for Forges, Furnaces & Kilns by Michael Porter. Great foundation kind of book for making burners and forges. If you are having troubles locating it, let me know.

Hi Dan, thank you!, yes LPG is the fuel of choice for me at the moment. I located the book you recommended, looks very good, not sure I am that committed quite yet , I would rather put the money towards tools that I will require for now. I am sure that at some point I may regret it and buy it anyways, LOL. I hope to get help on here at least enough to get started and make a knife i can be proud of.
    Thanks again Dan!
