Hello all. Glad to find this site. I hope I can find some solutions to some problems specific to knifemakers in Canada. I also hope to make some connections with others interested in this art.

A bit about myself. I am a long serving military member currently posted in Ontario. I spent a large portion of my life on Vancouver Island and may end up back there in the near future. I am currently in the midst of my first real push at becoming a knife maker after fooling around with it over the last few years. My main focus is combat style knives but I have done some utilitys, hunters and even a kitchen knife. I have some experience with metal and wood work as well as being pretty handy at creating technical solutions to problems, so I hope I can help a bit as well as mooch knowledge.

    Tony

Good to have you aboard Tony. Lots of skilled makers here. And everyone is very helpful. Looking forward to seeing your work.

So on to the next question. You a Navy guy? I'm a former ground pounder who was posted out at CFB gagetown ( and I'll keep calling it that ) now Ontario is my home again. Funny how military types are drawn to things like this :)

Welcome, Tony. We're a small group, but there's bucket loads of information in the heads around here, and everyone is always ready to help out.

Looking forward to seeing your knives.

Hi Tony! Always nice to a new member join the forum, especially someone who has the technical problem solving skills you do. If you don't mind my being nosy, what kind of work do you do for the military?

One of my friends badged over just after I got out. He's an ground controller out at Trenton right now. You work with a helo wing in Borden? I didn't spend much time there. Most of mine time was spent up in meaford. Then in gage. But from what I've heard it's better to do field ex's any but Borden. The ivy there is deadly :)

I am a Air Weapons Tech these days. Or will be in about 4 weeks when I finish my course :) Load bombs, blow stuff up, fix weapons systems that kind of thing.
