    Hi,

I’m here as hopefully a first step toward knife making. I’ve been dreaming for decades so it’s time to start.

Does anyone else know any knife makers in the Yukon?

    Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. I think you are our first Yukon member.

What sort of knives are you interested in? There's plenty of good knowledge here (and some really nice knives to look at) to help you get started right.

    Thanks for the welcome!

I would like to make hunting knives although I do like puukko style knives.

I was thinking of buying knife blanks and making the handles as a good starting point.

Starting with pre-made blanks is a good way to hone your finishing skills. It can also be useful to study various blanks to see how they are designed and balanced to account for handle weight, grip style, etc.

Welcome to forum. Yukon eh? We got 2ft of snow yesterday down here in Niagara and you'd think the world was ending.

Pre-made blanks are a good place to start. This is a fun hobby and it's great the first time you get to use a knife you made with your own hands. What tools do you have to start with?
