Hello from the great metropolis of Tracyville New Brunswick! Getting back into the groove of knife making after a injury to my neck/shoulder. I use to make knives for cutter heads for wood working machines for balusters and handrails and such. Been browsing the forums and looks like a great group here! Cheers Rick & Heather
Welcome aboard, Rick. Nice to have another member from the right coast. It sounds like you're bringing some experience with you. What sort of knives have you been making?
Haha for 3 years of fly in/out working in Red deer all I heard was west is best... I prefer the east coast way of living. As far as knives i have been playing with 1084 1095 and 154CM Stainless, getting a feel for what steels i like. From 95-2000 I worked making cutter heads for 6 head molders forming with diamond wheels and tool steel, horizontal grinders and any other tool you could think of. Once I stopped working out west I started getting back into small blades under 4" and the odd big choppers using old springs and such as I have built most of the tools including our drum forge(drums off International big rig). I have made several draw knives and spokeshave blades for my snowshoe building.
Around here, we have a name for new members like you: Resources. I'm looking forward to your contribution in the discussions!
