Hello from the Kingston area. I just wanted to take a moment to say hello as a new member. I'm new to the field of knife making, but have been interested in it for years. I have a large collection of knives and look forward to finally making my own. I am making plans to take introductory blacksmith courses for the spring as I would really like to have the satisfaction of making my own blade from start to finish. I found a really good link that has great resources for the blacksmith; most are books in PDF format form the early 1900's and show traditional techniques. They are free to download and use. I look forward to learning and growing in this field and find it nice to have found a Canadian home for the field. Below is a link to the site I referred to. I hope you find it as informative as I have. Daremo http://www.artisanideas.com/category/47/*Free-PDF-Books.html

Yeah ! what Dan Said! So once you start making knives, you can kiss your wife goodbye...she now calls me the basement troll ...
Welcome Daremo. I am also a newbie. I'm getting close to starting my first knife, although I will be sticking to stock removal for some time before I attempt any forging. Good luck and don't forget to post some pics for us all to see. Cheers. Gary.
