Good Morning All, I've been a Knife enthusiast for a while now, and decided that something was missing in my life. I used to be a pretty good tinkerer when I was a kid making this and that, but life just has a way of changing your priorities when you grow up. Well now I feel that I need to make something, something practical, something beautiful, and something sharp! I've got a good technical background as a technologist and electrical engineer, but my mechanical skills need some honing. I've got most of the tools (thanks to your newbie area). One thing I did notice was there wasn't a good description of where to find some of the more specific knifemaking/forging tools. The reading room has pointed me in a good direction and I've started reading Wayne Goddard's $50 knife shop book. One thing that would be really beneficial is if anyone knows of some classes locally that I could take, learning from a master would be much better than blundering ahead by myself. Thanks All, P.S I'm in Regina, SK.
Welcome to the forums Chris. I think there are a few folks around town that are willing to teach some basics to a new guy. There is a local group, the Sask Knifemaker's Guild, that many of us belong to. We'll have some info from them posted here in the next while, but for now, I'll send you a copy of the membership form.
