Hi to everyone, Glad to a part of this forum. It's nice to see that there are a lot of Canadian knifemakers both near and far who are or have experienced the joys & frustrations of acquiring the tools & skills necessary to practice this.....profession?? I have been dabbling with both knifemaking and blacksmithing on and off for several years now. As of late, I am giving my "shop" a complete overhaul and putting the final touches on my 2x72 grinder I made and a new aspirated forge that I hope I will be able to forge weld with as my old one was too large & inefficient. Over the years I have gathered a modest amount of shop equipment and I am hoping that I will be able to meet local makers with whom I can share both experience and shop resources with. In terms of knives and knife-making, I have forged a number of blades and heat treated them, but have fallen short when it comes to actually finishing the blades with handles and guards. So needless to say, I have a lot of sharp objects laying about the shop but not many knives. A situation I will remedy with the completion of my shop. Cheers, Chad
Welcome, Chad. This is a good place to find encouragement for finishing those knives. I hope you'll share some pics of your shop makeover too. It may be a profession for some. For most of us, it's more of an obsession.
Hi r-ice, I try to stay consistant on the forums so people know who they are talking to. Glad that you chose the Pheer, I am very anxious to see how you like it. It looks like a good grinder.
