I just wanted to say a quick hello to everybody and give thanks for all the great info on this site. I joined a while ago but haven't done a good job checking back and contributing. I'd like to be more active and help where I can (and I also have a lot to learn still). So hopefully you'll be seeing more of me on here. Aaron
Thanks! I'll be attempting a slipjoint this year so I'll be reviewing your posts a few times I'm sure
Ain't that the truth. This is a nasty hobby in that way. For most, it's too much time for something that you don't make a living from. But, you don't to stop. It also takes enough time that it gets a person in trouble (me anyway) for spending too much time in the shop. Throw life moments into that and it can get crazy. I'm not the fasted maker either (maybe the slowest) so it can be frustrating.
Yeah, it's a tricky balance that I still haven't mastered--too many late nights in the shop for needing to get up so early for work. I do all my knife work after the fam has gone to bed, but I love it and it's definitely a lifelong passion. And I'm sure I could be faster also haha
